Wow. Sorry guys.

Um... I didn't realize it had been so long since I blogged.  I keep up with most everybody else on facebook now.  But I don't write notes there either.

Here's a quick update, since I don't have time to write in coherent sentences or paragraphs:

  • Moved to a house the hubbie and I own.  Yes!  Our first house!  Message me for the address.
  • Got through another summer library program. My director's retiring in December.  Yes, I'm applying for her job.
  • Still in graduate school, until December.  And, I have a 10-15 page paper due this Friday that I DO NOT want to write.  Hence the presence online.

Okay, back to work.  Pictures of the new house to come later...

EVEry BODy's WORkin' FOR the WEEkend...

(put emphasis on the capitalized parts... you know the song!)

Actually I'm working ON the weekend.  But, I only have 15 minutes to go...fifteen L-O-N-G minutes.  I thought I'd post some updates quickly.

First: We're getting a house!  Everybody on Facebook probably knows this, but here's the picture from the real estate website:

We got it for 10% below asking price, it has 3 bedrooms and 1 3/4 baths, and is very cute.  I can't wait to move in!  Not that our rental has been a hell-hole, just that we couldn't change things we wanted to and I really don't like our current layout.  Our tenative closing date is July 17th, hopefully sooner.

Ok, next: our comfy blue couch died.  The glue dried out, the lower front piece of wood snapped out of place, and the bottom springs pulled it the rest of the way.  Hopefully Dad can help the hubby screw things back in place, but in the mean time we bought a loveseat from the grade school principal who's moving next year, but downsizing this year.  Here's a (kind of dark and grainy picture) from my phone: Ryan Green Loveseat Edited

The hubby has been grafitti'ed out for privacy...  The couch is a nice dark green.  I'm not a particular fan of reclining couches, but I AM a fan of $25 couches...

Oh!  And back at the beginning of May we also got a new bed - but no pics of that here.  I got a good bargain on some very bright yellow sheets.  A little annoying, but VERY soft.

Okay, so that's it for now.  If I've left things out you want to know, like maybe more pics of the soon-to-be "new" house, let me know.  I can finally go home!  YAY WEEKEND!!!!

A few notes on last weekend...

I found a bed!  And about $100 cheaper than I expected!  Mom and Dad are bringing it up today.

The weekend was great, if a little tiring.  The train didn't make it all the way down the publicized route because the track had washed out from all the rain in the Wichita area.  And I we sat in a car with about 6 noisy kids.  Eh.  I'll put up pictures later, if I can.  They symphony sold circus-like concessions, and seeing the M&M's reminded Kate and I of some M&M eating rules we made up one lunch period in high school.  (We got bored easily in high school...)

1.  Open the package and pour out all M&Ms.

2.  Eat all the brown ones at once, in one mouthful.

3. Eat one red and one yellow either alternating the colors or one of each color at a time.

4.  Give all the orange ones away to a friend.

5. Crunch all the green ones.  Try not to let them melt too much.

6.  Carefully suck the blue ones without crunching the shells at all.

Okay, so these are probably very silly rules, but then M&Ms aren't serious confection either, right?

B-I-G weekend planned...

I can't wait!

Kate and I are going away for the weekend, for a much needed vacation.  I'm not much in the blogging mood, but I wanted to post this anyway.  Sorry if it sounds disjointed...

First, I'm stopping to shop a bit. I have an exchange at JC Penney; probably going to exchange these pants for a larger size.  My MIL got them as an Easter present, and estimated the size too small.  Not a bad mistake to make, I guess. :)

Then, I'm off to get some electrical supplies for my dollhouse.  I've given up on the $60 order I placed two months ago.  I've called three times and gotten the same answer.  "Oh, your order should be on its way in a few days..."  Call it an expensive way to learn not to order from that online store ever again.  EVER.  I need what is sold in a basic wiring kit, but I wanted more of come supplies and ordered them separately.  Sigh.  I suppose it's the kit route now.

Then we're off to Mom and Dad's.  This year my better half and I agree on what to spend the tax return $ on.  Well, kind of.  He's getting a new set of golf clubs, but the remainder of it will be spent on a new bed.  Our current bed was used 5 years ago, and successive leaping into bed has put a "dip" in things.  Since we have the budget and the room, I think we're getting a king size.  I just don't know whether to go to Sam's where I can't sit on the mattresses but the prices are better, or Denver Mattress where I can test the stock but the prices are a teensy bit higher.

THEN... There's a passenger train that goes by Mom and Dad's on the local line to the local CO-OP.  So, the local Lions club is offering tickets, and we're going!  Yay!!!  I'm sooooooo excited!!!

Okay, then just to top the day off, we going to the symphony.  It's an unusual symphony, combining the musicians and circus performers.  Looks to be an interesting night, if nothing else...

Okay, so if that weren't enough, we're heading back to Kate's and the Kansas Sampler Festival on Sunday, if ony for the few last hours...

Phew... I hope I have enough energy.  Aaaaand that reminds me I have laundry to do this evening.  Later!

My latest addiction

I know, the title sounds bad.  But anyone who knows me now knows I love all things technological.  So when I find a web series combining ancient myths, an interesting plot line, and technology, I'm all over it!  Here is the first of the web series I'm watching now.  I do hope they continue through to the end without having to stop in the middle...  Enjoy!!!
